What is a Destination Wedding?

Simply, a Destination Wedding is a wedding that takes place at a site that provides an exotic or unique experience that is special to the bride and groom.  It can be on top of a mountain, under the sea, or at a resort – whatever you want.  Large or small, this can be something very different.

Why have a Destination Wedding?

Destination weddings have become very popular in recent years for a variety of reasons.  Some couples want to avoid the “hassle” of a wedding in their home town, others like the idea that everyone can come to a very special place and party with Honeymooners.  These weddings can be as large or small as you want in almost any place in the world.  More often than not, these are usually in tropical areas, as these locations can provide a number of accommodations and facilities for all participants.  Sometimes the bride and groom stay at the same site for their Honeymoon and sometimes they venture on to another location – that’s up to you!

How does a Destination Wedding work?

After choosing the type of atmosphere that is unique to you, your Destination Specialist can offer you a variety of choices according to your wants and expectations.  Today, many all-inclusive resorts, such as Sandals, offer complete, on-site arrangements that are already part of their services.  Other areas may not have that, but our specialists, working in concert with you, are experienced in planning all of those details.  From travel to accommodations to the ceremony and reception and down to the slightest details of flowers and where they should be, Heritage Travel Destination Specialists will work to make your wedding as special as you want it to be.

When should you plan your Destination Wedding?

Destination Weddings take a considerable amount of time to plan and execute.  In addition, many of the more popular destinations book far in advance; therefore, you should start working with your Heritage Travel Destination Specialist as soon as you have picked a wedding date and understand what you want for a wedding.
